Saúl Hernández
Senior Director for Communications
Saúl works with the UF Strategic Communications and Marketing team, faculty and university leadership to plan and direct long-range communications strategies that support university priorities. He manages the team that executes the university’s long-range communications plans with colleagues across the enterprise.
Prior to joining UF, Saúl was a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State, specializing in media relations, issues management and crisis communications. He served at the U.S. Embassies in Bogotá, Colombia; Prague, Czech Republic; Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia; and Lima, Peru, as well as in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, Georgia. During his assignment in Peru he oversaw the media components of visits by President Obama, Vice President Pence and multiple Cabinet secretaries.
Saúl earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He and his wife Megan are avid world travelers and home cooks.
